Ira Russell Edge

Ira Russell Edge, age 66 of Laurinburg passed away at his home on September 22, 2025.

The son of Harvey Zemp Edge Sr., and Jennie Mae Hucks Edge, Russell was born on November 16, 1958 in Conway, South Carolina. Russell graduated from Scotland High School and attended UNC Pembroke before joining the family farming business.

Russell had a deep love for the outdoors and found great joy in nature. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, with a special affection for animals and reptiles of all kinds, especially his beloved roosters.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Hubert Edge and Mr. and Mrs. William Grier Hucks, and his brother, Harvey Zemp Edge, Jr.

He leaves behind his devoted wife of 19 years, Fria May Erolan Edge; four sons, Ira Russell Edge, Jr., and his wife Tanya of Laurinburg, Johnathan Jordan Edge of Laurinburg, Philip Aaron Edge and Russell Wyatt Edge of the home; his granddaughter, Lindsey Ann Edge; sister, Cynthia Edge Womble and husband Marvin of Laurinburg; sister-in-law, Tina Edge of Laurinburg; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and special friends.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park. 

The family will have a time of visitation prior to services on Sunday beginning at 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of his parents,  Harvey and Jennie Edge of Laurinburg.
