Ira "Dean" Lockey

Ira “Dean” Lockey of Laurel Hill passed away at the age of 64 on September 21, 2024.  

He was the loving son of Elsie Locklear Lockey and the late John Wilburn Lockey born August 11, 1960 in Laurinburg, North Carolina.  Dean worked as an industrial mechanic with Marley Industrial Products for many years.  His greatest joy was sharing time with his family.  He also enjoyed being an avid sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys, NASCAR racing, especially of the late Dale Earnhardt.  He adored his family and he will dearly be missed by each of his loved ones.

Along with is father, he is preceded in death by his first wife of 41 years, Jennifer Lynn Hunt Lockey in 2020; daughter, Desiree M. Lockey; brother, Don A. Lockey; step grandson, Johnathan “Jordan” Brigman.

Dean is survived by his wife, Phyllis Chavis of their home; daughter Alicia Lockey Hunt of Laurinburg; step children, Joy Locklear (Stephen), and Stephanie Woods both of Laurinburg; his mother, Elsie L. Lockey of Laurinburg; sister, Kathy Lockey of Laurinburg; sister-in-law, Wanda Lockey of Laurinburg; special friends, John Locklear, Stephen Locklear; Dale Jones and Chris Bryant; along with his eight adored grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening, September 25th at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel.   Visitation with family will follow the service at the funeral home.
