Howard English, age 80 of Gibson passed away, Sunday, April 11, 2021.
Howard was born October 18, 1940 in Scotland County, son of the late Harley English and Annie Lee Langley English. He was husband to the late Elizabeth Conner English and then to the late Millie Byrd English. He retired after years of service from LOF/ Pilkington Glass Manufacturing. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church for over 20 years, a member of New Hope Baptist Church for over 10 years, and attended Stewartsville Baptist Church, as well as St. John’s United Methodist Church. During his high school years, Howard played football and basketball for Laurel Hill High School. He enjoyed wood working, bird hunting, animals, being on the farm, and working his garden. Howard most loved his family and friends and spending time with them.
Along with his parents and spouses, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Wilson English and Margaret James.
He is survived by sons, Dean English (Sharon) of Laurinburg, Harold “Lynn” English (Marilyn) of Statesville; daughter, Vicky E. McPherson (Duane) of Laurel Hill; step-sons, Bobby Adams, Jr. (Donna) of McColl, SC, Eddie Adams (Lisa) of Laurinburg; step-daughter, Angela Hunsucker (Jay) of Bennettsville, SC; brothers, Billy English of Atlanta, GA, Jack English of Laurel Hill; sister, Rosie Leviner of Wallace, SC; grandchildren, Elizabeth E. Maynor (Trevor), Ashley Greer (John), Tyler D. McPherson, Morgan B. McPherson, Grant D. English, step-grandchildren, Robbie Adams (Ashley), Ryan Jacobs, Ethan Adams, Hailey Adams; great grandchildren, Erin Greer, Abigail Maynor, Callie Maynor; step-great-grandchildren, Paisley Martin, Harper Adams, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
