Hazel Louise Ormsby DuRant

Mrs. Hazel Louise Ormsby DuRant, age 94 of Laurinburg passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018.

Hazel was a loving daughter of the late Robert Leon Ormsby, Sr., and Lula Williams Ormsby born June 16, 1924 in Richmond County, North Carolina.   She retired after many years of dedicated service in banking with State Bank, Wachovia and Wells Fargo.  She served as a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church before serving at the First Baptist Church of Laurinburg.  She loved caring for others in their time of need.  One of her greatest joys was being the caregiver for her father for more than eleven years.  Hazel will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Robert Leon Ormsby, Jr., Dale Maxwell Ormsby and sister, Doris O. Millan.

Hazel leaves behind her devoted husband of 57 years, William “Bill” DuRant of their home; brother, Ted Ormsby and sister, Peggy Lou Trollinger of Greenville, SC, and her many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Laurinburg.  The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
