Surrounded by his loving family, Harvey “Zemp” Edge, Jr., age 62 of Laurinburg, caught his ride to Heaven on Saturday, August 1, 2020.
Zemp was the son of Harvey Zemp Edge Sr., and Jennie Mae Hucks Edge born October 7, 1957 in Conway, South Carolina. His love of farming and being outdoors led him into his life work of Zemp Edge Farms for more than 35 years. He was recognized by Scotland County as an “Outstanding Young Farmer”. He served as a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Laurinburg. In his leisure time, Zemp enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR racing, especially a fan of the late, Dale Earnhardt and an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Fighting Scots Football Teams. Zemp’s greatest accomplishment in life was his adoring family as they each will cherish his legacy of love for them and his love for Christ.
Awaiting to greet him in Heaven were his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Hubert Edge and Mr. and Mrs. William G. Hucks; his granddaughter, Jacqueline Delaney Edge, and a special friend, Billy Ray Locklear.
Zemp leaves his devoted wife of 31 years, Tina Norton Edge of the home; three sons, Harvey Zemp “Trey” Edge, III and wife, Nikki Edge of Laurinburg, Jonathan “Reid” Edge and wife, Laura Edge of Laurinburg, Brandon Hubert Edge of Raleigh; his daughter, Donna “Missy” Edge Benson and husband, Jeremy Benson of Laurinburg; a brother, Ira Russell Edge and wife, Fria Edge of Laurinburg; sister, Cynthia Edge Womble and husband, Marvin Womble of Laurinburg; his adoring grandchildren, Chloee Edge, Landon Edge, Bryson Edge, Quade Edge, Indya Benson, Braxton Benson; along with a host of loving family and many special friends, including Trey and Reid’s mother, Saundra “Sunny” Franks and husband, Tim Franks.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Bobby Tyson and Rev. Ralph Brown. Burial will follow the service in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to services on Wednesday, beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be given to the First United Methodist Church of Laurinburg, 101 West Church Street, Laurinburg, NC 28352 or to Scotland Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
