Harold Floyd Mercer, age 92 of Laurinburg passed away at his home on September 25, 2021.
Harold was born February 7, 1929 in Chadbourn, North Carolina, son of the late Doctor Dozier Mercer and Lonie Belle Lynn Mercer. He was the devoted husband of 64 years to the late Sybil McFarland Mercer. Harold was a WWII and Korean Conflict Veteran who proudly served in the United States Navy. A business man for over 50 years in the automobile industry, formerly as manager of Highland Chrysler & Plymouth and the owner of Mercer’s Auto’s until his retirement. He served as a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church, Lions Club and the Laurinburg Jaycees. In his spare time, Harold also enjoyed a little fishing and loved time with family.
Along with his parents and wife, his is preceded in death by sisters, Marie Cook and Louise Cole.
Harold is survived by his children, sons, Scott Mercer of Myrtle Beach, SC, John Mercer of Winston-Salem, NC, his daughter, Alyce Mercer of High Point, NC; grandchildren, Todd Mercer, Mark Mercer; great grandchildren, Caroline Mercer and Audrey Mercer.
A graveside memorial service with military honors will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 in Hillside Cemetery. Family will receive friends following the service at graveside with all COVID-19 safety precautions.
