Harold Chavis

Harold Chavis of Maxton, North Carolina, departed this life for his eternal home on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.  He was born 75 years ago October 07, 1947 in Robeson County, North Carolina to the late John Calvin Chavis and the late Pattie Bullard Chavis.

On October 1, 1966 Harold would marry the love of his life, Valerie Cooper Chavis, with whom he shared a beautiful life. He was the owner and founder of 5TS Trucking, Chavis Farms, and was a prominent member of the White Oak Community. Harold found joy in traveling with his grandchildren and being there to cheer them on as they competed in track, baseball, drag racing, and football. He was very proud of his Quarter Horses and loved spending time on his family farm fishing with his boys. He was happiest anytime he was with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Harold loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Richard Chavis, Harlan Chavis, Clement Chavis, Barbara Jacobs; and nephew, Richland “Dudank” Chavis.

Left to cherish his memory is his adored wife of 56 years, Valerie Chavis of the home; sons, Timothy Harold Chavis, Terry Wayne Chavis, and Corey Chavis all of  Maxton, NC; brothers, Horace Chavis, Sonier Chavis both of Maxton, NC; grandchildren, Ashlynn Chavis Campbell (Ramsey), Tim Chavis, Terry Wayne “Twayne” Chavis, Trey Chavis, Tiera V. Chavis, Timberly Chavis; great-grandchildren, Ava-Lee Chavis, Rilynn Campbell, Tinley Chavis, Raegan Campbell; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at the Youth for Christ Church with burial following in the Youth for Christ Church Cemetery.  The family will have a time of visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023 in the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel.
