Gordon David Hamilton was born in Marlboro County, SC, on September 28, 1941, son of Eva Hamilton. He was raised by his grandparents, John and Evie Hamilton along with Annie Locklear. He passed away at the age of 83 on August 5, 2025.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Eva Hamilton Clark; and sister, Dorothy Taylor of China Grove, NC.
He attended school in McColl, SC where he met and married Carol Lee of McColl, SC. He worked many years for Delta Finishing Plant in Wallace, SC. Gordon had a passion for working on automobiles. He left Delta Finishing Plant to pursue a lifelong career in automotive repair and body work in Gibson, NC and later in China Grove, NC. Gordon had a dream and entrepreneur spirit. Those who were close to him knew his lifelong struggles. May he finally be free and forever at peace.
He is survived by his sons, Donald Hamilton (Kathy) of Clemmons, NC, Ronald Hamilton (Stephanie) of McPherson, KS, and daughter, Cathy Sheehan (TR) of Newnan, GA, and the children's mother, Carol Hamilton of Newnan, GA; seven grandchildren, Joshua Pierce, Cody Pierce, Lacey Willis, Tanner Hamilton, Ashlea Bowers, Mason Hamilton and Carter Hamilton; seven great grandchildren, Noah Hamilton, Kynlee Hamilton, Colten Hamilton, Riley Bowers, Maddie Bowers, Tessa Willis, Ruby Willis; brother, George Hamilton of China Grove, NC; sisters, Louise Manning of China Grove, NC, and Jeanette Howell of Holden Beach, NC.
Services will be held at graveside in the West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025.
