Gilbert Clark, age 83 of Laurinburg passed away at his home on September 9, 2025. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and devoted friend who will truly be missed.
Gilbert was the son of the late Jesse and Flora Oxendine Clark born March 23, 1942 in Scotland County, NC. He was a hardworking man who loved his career as a truck driver, along with being a welder and mechanic. While on the road, Gilbert’s CB Radio handle name was the fitting “Carolina Slim”. He loved helping others and enjoyed tinkering on just about anything earning him the nickname “MacGyver”. He was an avid NASCAR racing fan who loved his Ford’s, a great story teller and enjoyed being outdoors raising his animals.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Jesse Clark, John Wesley Clark; sisters, Mable Clark, and Marjorie Lowery.
Gilbert is survived by his children, sons, Shawn Clark of Laurinburg, Josh Clark of Wilmington; daughters, Sandra Clark of Laurinburg, and Stephanie Clark of Maxton; brother, Jerome Clark (Ida Mae) of Laurinburg; sisters, Marvelene Miller (Jimmy) of Laurel Hill, Catherine Norman (Sam) of Pinehurst; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Travis, Amber, Hannah, Harley, Natalin, Joslyn, Gabriel; twenty-four great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews; and his special devoted family friends, Leo Clark, J.P. Locklear, Mitchell Bowen, Kathy Cummings, Daryl and Michelle Clark; son-in-law, Henry Cooper; and daughter-in-law, Carrie Clark.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will have a time of visitation prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
