Gertrude Stone Ikner of Laurinburg departed this life at the age of 87 on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
She was born January 3, 1939 in Scotland County, NC, loving daughter of the late Julia Jones Stone. Gertrude enjoyed her work with the Scotland County Sheriff Department as a jailer and in manufactured housing, helping safely guide homes to their final site. She was a member of East Laurinburg Baptist Church. Gertrude loved flowers, finding treasures at flea markets, and playing bingo. Her greatest joy came from time spent with family and the memories they shared. Gertrude was an adored mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Along with her mother, she is preceded in death by sisters, Grace Stone and Mildred Edwards.
Left to rejoice in her memory are sons, Cecil Thomas Ikner, Jr., of Clarksville, TN and Stephen Ikner of Laurinburg; brothers, William “Harry” Stone of Cowpens, SC, Johnny Edwards of Maxton; grandchildren, Stephanie Ikner, Wesley Ikner, Caylin Ikner, Josh Ayer; and great-grandchild, Willem Ikner; along with many loving extended family and friends.
The family will have a time of visitation for family and friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Richard Boles Funeral Service
