Gertrude Scott Cummings, daughter of the late John Scott and Gertrude Strickland Scott, was born March 17, 1946 in Scotland County. She retired after many years from J P Stevens Industries. She served as a faithful member of Eastside Emanuel Holiness Church. She was dedicated to her family and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Gertrude passed away to her Heavenly home, Monday, October 12, 2020 at the age of 74.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters; grandson, Bryan Robinson and companion of many years, Neal Snead.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Angela “Danielle” Walters (Greg) of Laurinburg, Heather Oxendine (Jonathan) of Laurinburg, Geraldine Robinson (Donnie) of Hamlet, Sue Butler (Jimmy) of Laurinburg; sisters, Vivian “Tinny Gal” McLamb of Raleigh, Mary “Peewee” Hatcher of Laurinburg, Beulah Mae Grooms of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Christopher Walters, Ashley RaeLynn Smith, Donna Kay Robinson, James (Jamie) Robinson, Kalista Oxendine, Laela Oxendine, Halona Oxendine, Sharon Butler, seven great grandchildren, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews and many friends.
A Graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2020 in Hillside Memorial Park.
