Georgia Watts Obituary

Mrs. Georgia Brooks Watts departed this life for her Heavenly home at the age of 88 on March 14, 2024.

She was the loving daughter of the late Lacy L. Brooks, Sr., and Maggie English Brooks born October 13, 1935 in Scotland County, NC. She was a devoted homemaker and loving wife of 49 years to the late Liston Jasper “LJ” Watts who passed in 2010.  She loved her work as the switch board operator for Scotland County Social Services retiring after many years of service.  She and LJ served as faithful members of the former East Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church where she loved teaching Sunday School, Children’s Church, and Royal Ranger, later she enjoyed attending Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church.  She loved being a wedding planner, caring for children, along with making crafts and spending time at the beach.  Above all, Georgia loved her family and cherished her time shared with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by sisters, Peggy Brazelton, Becky Brittian, Geraldine Smith; and brother-in-law, Ed Rigby.

Mrs. Georgia is survived by her son, Joey Watts and wife, Dede; grandchildren, Ashley Walker and husband, Ian, Kevin Dalton and wife, Elizabeth, Brooks Watts and wife, Mallory, Zakery Watts and wife, Katie; great grandchildren, Nikolas Hickerson, Killian Dalton, Branwyn Dalton, Gracie Hickerson, Noah Hickerson, Averie McCall, Jude Walker, Channing Walker, Brooks Walker, and a great-grandson expected soon; son-in-law, Kevin Dalton, Sr., and wife, Patricia; and one she loved as a son, Ronnie Cole and wife Janice.  She also leaves behind her siblings, Edna “Aunt Tom” Rigby, Lacy L. Brooks, Jr., and wife Peggy, Arthur Brooks and wife, Jeannie; brother-in-law, Ron Smith; along with a host of nieces, nephews and her extended family and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park.   Visitation will be prior to services on Monday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
