George Robert Clark, age 79 of Maxton, NC passed away at home on June 16, 2026.
He was born March 30, 1947 in Scotland County, NC, son of the late John Colon Locklear and the late Nettie Clark. George worked in the trucking industry for many dedicated years with Wallace Trucking, D&I Trucking, and retired from Phil Butler Trucking. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars and trucks, and was an avid sports fan of football, wrestling, and NASCAR racing. George will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter, Christy Rhiannon; brothers, Verdell Locklear, John Samuel Locklear, Marcus Locklear; and son-in-law, Michael Robles
George is survived by wife Margaret Muriel Clark but living separated; son, Robert William Clark (Olivia Locklear); daughters, Lynn Clark Robles (James Locklear), Rena Clark, Leona Clark, Dara Hunt, Nettie Roszetta Haggans and husband Michael Haggans, Ashley Clark; brother, Fred Clark; sisters, Mary Locklear, Rose Locklear, Brenda Strickland, Nancy Locklear; fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; live in special friend, Glenda Moody; special friends, Buddy Scott and Bradley Scott (JA); along with many loving extended family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the Good News Chapel Cemetery.
