TSgt George Tilmon Norris, Ret. USAF passed away at the age of 88 on April 28, 2023.
George was one of seven children of the late Charlie Norris and Netus Campbell Norris born March 3, 1935 in Scotland County, North Carolina. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1953 proudly serving his country during the Korean War and Vietnam War retiring as Technical Sergeant in 1973 after 20 years of dedicated service. He then began his career with the United Parcel Service retiring after 20 years in 1993. George loved sports and was an avid player of baseball and softball his entire life. He was also a NASCAR enthusiast and collector along with being a devoted fan of the late Dale Earnhardt. Above all, George was devoted to his family and truly loved sharing time with each of them, especially with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by son, Roy Allen Norris, and daughter, Karen Marie Glover; granddaughter, Kathy Michelle Norris; great-great grandson, Broc Anthony Copeland; brothers, James Norris and Charles Norris; sisters, Hazel McGraw and Esther Dunn.
He leaves behind his children, Gary Norris (Marie) of Old Hickory, TN, George Wayne Norris of Smyrna, TN, Rhonda Norris Towne of Smyrna, TN; brother, Billy Ray Norris (Mary) of Laurel Hill, NC; and sister, Carolyn Norris Radford (Marvin) of Laurel Hill; eleven grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel followed by burial with military honors in the Beaver Dam Cemetery, McColl, SC.
Visitation will be on Wednesday evening 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
