Gary Michel Herndon

Gary Michel Herndon was born April 9, 1958 in Scotland County, son of the late Wesley “Buck” Herndon and Lydia Hicks Herndon. He retired from Southeastern Farm Equipment where work was his passion for 38 years. Gary loved attending his church at Springfield Church of God. He enjoyed people and was always known as a prankster because of his love of pulling jokes on others. He was a very generous person who enjoyed giving to others, never expecting anything in return. Health and fitness were important to him and working out several days a week were a priority. He loved classic cars, watching horror movies and comedies. He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Edward Herndon and niece, Hope Norton.

Gary leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughter, Jerri Herndon of Laurel Hill; sister, Debbie H. Eggleston (Lee) of Waxsaw; grandson, Austin Stephen Johnson; nieces and nephews, Paula Hicks, David Herndon, Chris Giddens, Scott Eggleston, Don Eggleston, Gina Tyson, David Riley, along with many loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Springfield Church of God, officiated by Pastor David Shoemake and Rev. Richard Tyson. Burial will follow in King Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the church.
