Freddy "Freddie" McGill

Freddy "Freddie" McGill of McColl, South Carolina departed this life at the age of 73 on June 30, 2025.

He was the loving son of the late Raymond and Mary Lois Clark McGill, born July 22, 1951 in Scotland County, NC. Freddie proudly served in the United States Army and the North Carolina National Guard. He worked in maintenance with Abbott Laboratories for many dedicated years until retiring. Freddie served as a faithful member of East Laurinburg Church of God. He enjoyed watching television, going fishing, and traveling to the mountains with his friends. His greatest joy was time spent with his adored family. Freddie was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who will truly be missed.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Myra Sue Locklear McGill; son, Carson “Lee” McGill; and sister, Brenda Clark.

Left to rejoice is his memory is sons, Christopher “Chris” McGill (Jessica) and Freddy McGill (Renee) both of McColl, SC; daughter, Mary Gardner (Jason) of Laurinburg; daughter-in-law, Amy Grooms McGill; brothers, Bobby Ray McGill of Rutherfordton, David Otis McGill of Laurinburg; sisters, Carolyn Summey (Rodney) of Cliffside, Thelma Waide (Ronald) of Huston, Alabama; grandchildren, Ashley McGill McKinney, Chelsea Marie McGill, Collin McGill, Terner J. McGill, Tyson Gardner, Abigail Croke, Sydney McGill, Saige McGill, and Cole Gardner; eight great-grandchildren; and special friend, Daniel Shoemake; along with a host of loving extended family and friends.

The celebration of life memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at the East Laurinburg Church of God. 

Visitation with the family will be prior to services on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the church.
