Franklin Roosevelt Covington, 88, of Laurinburg, N.C. died Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Scottish Pines Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Laurinburg.
Born March 16, 1933, in Marlboro County, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Thomas L. Covington and Alena McGee Covington. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having received the Purple Heart for his service in the Korean War.
Survivors include a son, David Covington (Sherry) of New Bern, N.C.; two daughters, Kathy Brafford (Mike) of Henderson, N.C., and Frankie Fehlman of Laurinburg, N.C.; four sisters, Geneva Rhinefield of Laurinburg, N.C., Mary Lou Covington of Cheraw, S.C., Dorothy Covington of West End, N.C., and Judy Lowe of Rock Hill, S.C.; three brothers, Harold Covington of Hamlet, N.C., Bill Covington of Statesville, N.C., and Ed Covington of Charlotte, N.C.; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
A graveside service for family members will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2021 in the Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery, Ghio, NC, directed by Rev. Tommy Blackwell. The family will receive friends at graveside following the service.
