Floyd Byron Benson, age 78 of Laurinburg passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021.
Floyd was born May 23, 1942 in Olympia, Washington, son of the late Harry T. Benson and Viola Mae Robbins Benson. He retired after years of service as an accountant for Marly Electric. He attended Stewartsville Baptist Church, enjoyed walking his dog, Ginger, working out at the gym, and going fishing. Floyd was an avid Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan and a supporter of the Scotland High School football program. He especially enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in all of their sports and other activities. To his family he will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Roger Benson and sister, Doris Power.
Floyd leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Jean Benson of the home; sons, Kevin Benson (Nicole) of Greensboro, Kent Benson (Michelle) of Holly Springs; daughter, Amy Inman (Michael) of Laurinburg; brother, Larry Benson of California; sisters, Janet Hofman of California, Nancy Adrian of Washington; grandchildren, Lauren Inman, Avery Benson, Samantha Benson, Gavin Inman, Shelby Benson, Addison Inman, Allison Benson, Alex Benson, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family requests memorial donations be given to Stewartsville Baptist Church/ Christ The Cornerstone, 10401 McColl Road, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
A Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2021 in the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service on Sunday at the funeral home. COVID restrictions require facial masks with social distancing for all services.
