Fannie Sturdivant, 85, of Taunton, MA passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 20, 2022.
Born in Laurinburg, Scotland County, North Carolina on June 18, 1937, she was a daughter to the late Clem and Delia (Butler)Sturdivant. She served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958 and earned a Business Degree from Johnson & Wales University. Fannie was employed by Sears and Roebuck, Raytheon and also the Norton Sheet Metal Company followed by Environmental Systems Inc. as Corporate Treasurer from its inception in 1974 to her retirement in 2004.
Fannie was a very loving, kind, and generous person. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and very active, held many leadership positions from Board of Trustees, fundraising and where there was a need, too many to list. Fannie spearheaded and raised funds for a new pipe organ in place for many to enjoy now and for future generations. She was also an active member of the Taunton Garden Club from 2000 to 2016.
Fannie is survived by ten siblings, Jimmy Sturdivant of Lakewood, CA, Janet Faye Sturdivant-Gaerke of Ft. Recovery, OH, Peggy Ann Sturdivant Gibbons of Charlotte, NC, Lynda Rose Sturdivant Lacombe of Lompoc, CA, Edwin Sturdivant of Laurinburg, NC, Clem Sturdivant, Jr, of Long Beach, CA, Kenneth Jerald Sturdivant of Georgetown, KY, Elizabeth Diana Sturdivant Locklear of Laurinburg, NC, Deborah Darlene Sturdivant Bailey of Laurel Hill, NC, Harry Craig Sturdivant of Chula Vista, CA. She also leaves her dearest friends, John W. Sinapi Jr. and his partner Bernie Larivee of Cranston, RI.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday November 29, 2022, from 9am-11am at the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Avenue, Taunton, MA, followed by a Service at 11:30am at Memorial United Methodist Church. Repast will follow at the church hall.
Funeral services will be at Noon on Friday, December 2, 2022 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Pinecrest Cemetery. The family will have a time of visitation prior to services on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
