Fairley Barnhill

Fairley Barnhill, age 84 of Ashe, NC, formerly of Laurinburg, passed away to his Heavenly home on Friday, October 9, 2020.

Fairley was a son of the late Kurtis Cleveland “KC” Barnhill and Elizabeth “Lizzie” McGee Barnhill born April 5, 1936 in Scotland County.  He proudly served our nation in the United States Army.  His life work was in trucking, retiring after many years with Simmons Logging.  Fairly was a Christian man who dedicated his life to serving God and others and was a faithful member of Center Point Church of God.  Many of his hobbies included bowling, golfing, fishing and he truly enjoyed traveling on cruises.  Fairley loved his family and cherished sharing time with each of them.  A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, he will truly be missed.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Isaac C. Barnhill, Jesse L. Barnhill, and sisters, Carolyn Arnett and Betty Quick.

Fairley leaves his devoted wife of 63 years, Betty “Jean” Russell Barnhill of their home; his son, Bryan Barnhill and wife Patricia of Ashe; a brother, Sam Barnhill of Laurinburg; his adoring grandchildren, David Bryan Barnhill II, Ashley Nicole Stout (Scott) and great grandchildren, Gunner Stout, Jayden Stout, Zilly Stout, Cameron Barnhill.  He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews and a host of loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Pastor Allen Gibson.  Burial with military honors will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.   The family will receive friends prior to services on Wednesday from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations are requested to be given to the American Kidney Foundation.
