Everett Alexander Smith of Laurinburg, NC departed this life at the age of 83 on Monday, July 28, 2025.
He was born June 10, 1942 in Scotland County, NC, son of the late Clarence Smith, Sr., and the late Lena Mae Laviner Smith. Everett was a skilled diesel mechanic working with Sinclair Lumber Company and then with Perkins Diesel until retiring. He served as a member of Northview Harvest Ministries, loved music, a gifted guitar player and always had a toothpick in the corner of his mouth. Everett was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest joy was time spent with family; especially his grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Faye Carlisle Smith; son, Thomas Matthew “Matt” Smith; daughter, Toni Teresa Smith; and brothers, Paul Smith and Will Smith.
Left to cherish his memory are sons, Everette “Alan” Smith (Mary) and Ronald Smith both of Laurinburg; daughter, Deborah Sue Chavis of Gibson; brother, Clarence Smith, Jr., of Fairmont; sister, Evelyn S. Troublefield also of Fairmont; grandchildren, Belinda McInnis, Dustin Smith, Abigil Jones, Ronin Smith, Dereck Pruitt, Aarron Chavis, Darron Chavis, Toni Hunt; eighteen great-grandchildren; along with a host of loving extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel followed by a time of visitation with the family.
