Evelyn Scott Odom, age 88 of Gibson, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020.
Evelyn was a daughter of the late Albert LeRoy “Roy” Scott and Evelyn Berry Scott, born July 12, 1931 in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. She was a wonderful teacher retiring after 28 years of service with the Marlboro County School System. She served as a faithful long time member of St. John United Methodist Church. Evelyn was loved by many and will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, mentor and friend.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Albert LeRoy “Rusty” Scott, Jr.
Evelyn leaves behind her devoted husband, Charles Franklin “Pinky” Odom; children, Anne Elizabeth Hammonds and husband Jim of Aberdeen, and Charles F. “Frank” Odom, Jr., and wife Kittie of Asheboro; sister, Davis Scott Plummer of Clio, SC; her adoring grandchildren, Samuel Charles Hammonds, Page Alyce Odom Davis, Zachary James Hammonds, Shelby Laurin Odom; great grandchildren, Evelyn Page Davis, Harper Brooke Hammonds, and a host of loving family and many friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the St. John United Methodist Church with burial following in Pinecrest Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be prior to the service from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. at St. John United Methodist Church.
