Evelyn Oxendine Locklear

Evelyn Oxendine Locklear was born May 6, 1946 in Robeson County loving daughter of the late Arthur Oxendine and Muriel Oxendine. She worked many years for the Scotland County School System as an assistant teacher and bus driver. She served as a faithful member of New Prospect United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crafting and traveling. She was affectionately known as "Big Ma" and "Little Nellie". To her family, Evelyn will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away to her Heavenly home, Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the age of 74.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Arthur W. Oxendine, Adrian Oxendine, Billy Ray Oxendine and sister, Ollie Oxendine. 

Evelyn leaves behind her husband, Jerry Locklear of the home; Taylor Blake Locklear, who was lovingly raised as a daughter of Maxton; brothers, Jemen Oxendine of Red Springs, James Earl Oxendine of Pembroke; sisters, Annie Oxendine Hammonds of Pembroke, Sandra Faye Oxendine, Teresa Oxendine, both of Maxton along with a host of loving nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service. Burial will be in New Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery. A time of visitation will be prior to the service on Wednesday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

COVID-19 mandates require facial masks or coverings and attendance for all services will be limited.
