Euldeen “Lady” Coates Baber of Laurinburg passed to her Heavenly home at the age of 85 on August 1, 2026.
Lady was born and raised in Laurinburg and returned home several years ago with her husband, Ken, after nearly 50 years of ministry. She loved to sing and play the piano, often in church, and then later, just for herself.
If you knew her, you knew she was an artist and a decorator and had a great sense of personal style, even back when she was sewing her own clothes from Simplicity patterns. While her husband Ken was the preacher, he was the first to say she was the pastor who heard whispered confessions, calls for prayers, and pleas for advice when life seemed too overwhelming to handle alone.
She lived a full life and was loved and admired by so many people who remember her fondly even now, years past their time with her. While she was satisfied with her life on earth, she longed to see her family who had gone before her and was eager for the day she would join them in Heaven. She is surely at her happiest now rejoicing with them and seeing her heavenly Father face to face.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth Baber, Laurinburg, NC; her brother, Richard Coates and his wife, Patsy, of Laurinburg, NC; her son, Thomas Barry Baber of Pinehurst, NC; her daughter, Wendy Yarberry of Orange Park, FL, and her youngest son, Kenneth Dean Baber and his wife, Lori, of Andrews, SC. She was blessed with 4 grandchildren (Justin, Ben, Amanda, and Sydney) and 6 great-grand-children.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the Springfield Church of God.
A time of visitation will be held on Saturday prior to the service beginning 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church.
Donations to the Springfield Church of God may be sent in lieu of flowers.
