Eugene Donald Barfield, age 80 of McColl, South Carolina passed away on January 17, 2023.
He was born January 7, 1943 in Ghio, North Carolina, a loving son of the late Evege Barfield, Sr., and the late Hazel Knight Barfield. During his career, he worked in the Heating and Air Conditioning Industry, then in construction until his retirement. He enjoyed listening to country music, dancing and talking about his younger days being a baseball pitcher. His greatest joy was being with family, especially his grandchildren. Eugene was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will dearly be missed.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Jaime Leigh Barfield; brothers, Andrew Barfield and Fairley Barfield.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Linda Lee Barfield of their home in McColl, SC; sons, Eugene “Scott” Barfield (Amy) of Florence, SC, Odom “Jameson” Barfield (Casey) of McColl, SC; daughters, Jill B. Hyman of Florence, SC, Tatum B. McCallum (Robert) of McColl, SC, Lindsay B. Spangler (Robert) of Laurinburg, NC, Gina Ryan Barfield of Laurinburg, NC; brothers, Charles Barfield and Johnny Barfield both of McColl, SC, Mitchell Barfield of Kentucky; sister, Geraldine Grooms of McColl, SC; his adored grandchildren, Jordan Jones, Ian Spangler, Connor Barfield, Braylon Barfield, Ethan Spangler, Jennings Barfield, Kayla Andrassi, Lindsey Hancock, Sydney Jones, Haleigh McCallum, Bailee Barfield, Hayden McCallum, Knightley Barfield, Marlee Barfield, Avaleigh Phillips; and great granddaughter, Jayden Jones. He also leaves behind his nieces, nephews and a host of loving family and friends.
The memorial service will be 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 223 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Bo Grooms and Rev. Kevin Norton. The family will have a time of visitation prior to the service on Tuesday, beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and immediately following the memorial service at the funeral home.
