Ethel Naomi Locklear

Ethel Naomi Locklear was born July 30, 1950, in Scotland County, the daughter of the late James Robert Locklear and Essie Bell Smiling Locklear. She was a strong, protective, and deeply loving mother who devoted her life to her family. Her kindness was felt most at home, where she created a place of comfort, safety, and unconditional love. Known for her humor and warm heart, she took joy in simple moments – reading, gardening, and being surrounded by those she cared for most. Her family was her greatest pride, and the love she gave so feely will continue to guide and comfort them. She will be remembered always by her family for her unwavering devotion and gentle kindness. She passed away at the age of 75 on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Bobby Locklear, and her brother, Robert Clinton Locklear.

Ethel is survived by two sons, Gary Wayne Locklear and Tim Locklear; her sister, Sally Chavis; eight grandchildren, Casey, Kelly, Gary Jr., Shania, Alexis, Leeah, Damien, and Devin; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Locklear and Jessie Lee Locklear; along with a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Union Light Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. 

A time of visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday beginning 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the church.
