Mr. Ernie Lee Locklear of Maxton, NC, went to sleep entering his Heavenly home at the age of 65 on April 15, 2026. He was a Godly man who loved and adored his family who always strived to help others in their time of need. He will profoundly be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Ernie was born July 19, 1960 in Scotland County, NC, son of the late D.P. “Joe” Locklear and the late Corde Lee Oxendine Locklear. He loved being a farmer, loved his tractors and working many years with Midway Cotton Gin. He faithfully served the Lord and was an active member of the Purvis Independent Baptist Church. He enjoyed being around people, going to auctions and believed that one’s man junk was another man’s treasure. He also enjoyed traveling to the mountains. Above all, he loved sharing his time with his precious family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, James Ray Locklear.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Kathy Stubbs Locklear of their home; son, Ernie Junior Locklear (Aquila) of Maxton; daughters, Donna Stubbs Goins (Willie) and Crystal Gail Lowery (Thurman, Jr.) both of Maxton; and raised as a daughter, Brittany Bryant (Christopher); his adored grandchildren, Willie Goins III (Kayla), Ashley Goins, Porsha Blue (Devor), Joshua Locklear, Madalyn Blue (Devoyae), Kaleb Locklear and eight great grandchildren. Ernie is also survived by his siblings, Vergie D. Locklear (Charles) of Rowland, Mary Ann Haggans of Maxton, Linda Joyce Locklear (Danny) of McColl, SC, Hattie Mae Locklear of Red Springs, Leana Locklear (Lisa) of Maxton; along with a host of loving nieces and nephews, his extended family, church family, and a special friend, Silverio.
