Elsie Faye Ingram Cameron of Laurinburg, NC, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend departed this life at the age of 91 on September 18, 2023.
She was born December 6, 1931 in Johnston County, NC, loving daughter of the late Benjamin Ingram and the late Diana Rhodes Ingram. Elsie had a fulfilling career as an educator with the Hoke County School System, where she cherished her work teaching children until retiring after 28 years of devoted service. She was raised in the Presbyterian faith, then later attended and served in the Raeford United Methodist Church.
Elsie was a talented musician especially on the Appalachian Dulcimer and she loved playing with her “Friday Nighter” Group of Raeford. In her later years, she truly enjoyed living at Scotia Village where many treasured friendships were made. Her greatest joy was family and their time shared together. Elsie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Donald E. Cameron; siblings, Rebecca, Millard, and Nancy.
Left to cherish her memory is son, Donald Cameron, Jr., of Raeford; daughter, Elizabeth Blue Cameron Currin and husband, Ronnie of Rolesville; brothers, James Ingram of Oxford, John Ingram of Parkton, Jake Ingram of Angier; grandchildren, Hannah Blue Currin Keller, Andrew Irvin Currin, Cameron Luke Currin; and great-grandchildren, Elsie Faith Keller, and Audrey Lynne Currin; along with a her loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Scotia Village with The Rev. Linda Nelson officiating.
A Graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Raeford Cemetery.
