Ellen Reynolds (Norton) Burnette

Ellen Reynolds Norton Burnette, age 83 of Laurinburg passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021.

Ellen was the daughter of the late Maurice Lafayette Norton and Gladys Thompson Norton born August 4, 1937 in Scotland County.  She was a devoted homemaker and loved her work substitute teaching with the Scotland County School System.  She served as a member of the First United Methodist Church of Laurinburg.  She loved watching her grandchildren play baseball and mowing her own grass.  Sharing time with her family was Ellen’s greatest joy.   

She is preceded in death by her brother, Sonny Norton.

Ellen is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, John Charles “J.C.” Burnette of their home; her daughters, Sue Ellen B. Parrish and husband Britt, Pam B. Bullock and husband Randy, each of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Brandon Parrish, Ryne Bullock, Blake Parrish, Chase Bullock, and great grandchildren, Zack Gentry, Dallas Bullock, Rilee Parrish, Bailey Parrish, along with a host of loving family and friends.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021 in Hillside Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Bobby Tyson.  The family will receive friends following the service at graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be given to Scotland Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
