Eldora Locklear Norton

Eldora Locklear Norton of Laurinburg passed to her Heavenly home at the age of 68 on July 30, 2023.

She was born December 23, 1954, loving daughter of the late Jim Hamer Locklear and Mammie Clark Locklear.  Eldora was the devoted wife of 28 years to the late Michael Norton, Sr.  She dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family as a homemaker. She served as a lifelong member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.  Her greatest joy was sharing time with her family, especially the grandchildren, and watching Atlanta Braves Baseball games.  To her family, Eldora was a wonderful mother and grandmother, a loving and devoted sister, aunt and friend who will dearly be missed.

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by brothers, Jimmy Ray Locklear, Gilbert Locklear and Hezzy Locklear.

Eldora leaves behind her children, son, Anthony R. Norton (Holly) of Hamlet; daughters, April Quick (Marcus) of Laurel Hill, and Amanda Cooke of Laurinburg; brother, Glen Locklear of Rockingham; sisters, Jeanette Seals of Wagram, Maxine Locklear, Virginia Locklear, Joyce Locklear, and Glenda Lowery each of Laurinburg; six adored grandchildren; many loving nieces, nephews, her extended family, Makailyn "BooBoo" Locklear and Summer Locklear, along with a host of special friends.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at the Oak Grove Baptist Church with graveside committal following in the church cemetery.  

Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
