Edna Yarborough Cole

Edna Yarborough Cole of Aberdeen, NC, passed away at the age of 97 on Saturday, May 2, 2026. A beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will deeply be missed.

She was born July 29, 1928 in Moore County, NC, loving daughter of the late Doras James Yarborough and the late Estelle Wiseman Yarborough.  She was a wonderful homemaker along with a career in Human Resources with JP Stevens, Inc., retiring after many years of service.   Edna was an avid reader, enjoyed shopping, Broadway shows and loved attending all of her grandchildren’s activities.  Above all, she loved and cherished her family and their time shared together.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, DJ Yarborough and sister, Jeri Kjelland.

Edna is survived by her daughters, Sheri Cole Garrison and Angie Cole Vernon both of Aberdeen; adored grandchildren, LeAnn Garrison, Eric Smith, Thomas Vernon, Joshua Vernon; great grandchildren, Aiden Smith and Grayson Smith. 

A private graveside service is being planned for a later date in the Beaulah Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, West End, NC.
