Edna “Lucille” Talbert Smith Capps, age 93 of Monroe, North Carolina passed away, Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
Lucille was born January 19, 1927 in Anson County, daughter of the late Prince Talbert and Myrtle Shoe Morton. She was wife to the late Alexander "C" Smith and wife to the late David Capps. She retired after 38 years of service from Burlington Industries. Lucille was raised in Wagram, served as a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, and later served as a member at Sweet Haven and Crestview Baptist in Rockingham where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School. She was a talented published writer of short stories and poems, enjoyed making jewelry and volunteering with Hospice. Lucille loved being the center of attention and sharing time with her family.
Along with her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by brothers, Robert Talbert and Willie Morton; sisters, Katherine “Dink” Varnadore Harper, Connie Whitt, Louella Walters, and Ruth Currie.
Lucille leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Janice Smith Baxley of Red Springs, Jean Smith Hill (Marvin) of West End, Phyllis Smith of Indian Trail, Geraline Smith Castle (Larry) of Atlantic Beach; sister, Mary “Jo” Morton Holland of Wagram; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
