Earl Haywood Obituary

 

Earl Lee Haywood, age 71 of Laurinburg passed away Friday, February 5, 2021.

Earl was born June 10, 1949 in Scotland County, son of the late James Haywood and Lizzie Mae Tigg Haywood. He retired as a dedicated employee after many of service from Smithfield Foods/Murphy Brown. He played softball for many years before he becoming an umpire for softball and baseball with the Scotland County Parks and Recreation. Earl loved many sports, and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees baseball, Duke basketball, and Dallas Cowboy’s teams. He loved talking to people, watching Western movies, and raising game birds. His family will truly miss him as a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. 

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, James Haywood, Clyde Haywood, Edward Haywood and sisters, Thelma Norton, Barbara Ann Norton, Wanda Ann Haywood, Frances Sanders, Helen Haywood, Shirley Haywood, and Dorothy Haywood.

Earl leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Margaret Bryant Haywood of the home; son, Earl Haywood, Jr. (Jamie) of Laurinburg; daughters, Robin Haywood Miller (Keith) of Laurinburg, Kimberly Haywood Locklear (J. T.) of Pembroke; brother, Charles Haywood (Janice) of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Jordan Spangler (Kendra), Ryan Spangler, Madison Haywood, Morgan Locklear, Chandler Miller, MaKenzie Haywood, Jameson Locklear, Macie Haywood, Ava Locklear, great grandchildren, Jordan M. Spangler, Kinsleigh M. Spangler, Kennedy M. Spangler, Jeremiah M. Spangler, and a host of many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Rev. Clyde David Haywood. Visitation will immediately follow the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. A Committal service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2021 in Laurinburg Memorial Park.
