Douglas Eugene Sessoms, age 60 of Laurinburg, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020.
He was born August 16, 1959 in Tecumseh, Michigan, loving son of the late Woodrow and Mildred Gainey Sessoms. Douglas or "Dougie" as most family members called him, was one of the most unique human beings that ever graced the lives of his family and others. Dougie was a hard working man for many years, from the owner of a painting company to an operator and foreman over several printing press companies. Dougie lived life, he worked hard, and played even harder. He explored all the possibilities of life; respected some, and abused some. A dad, a brother, a friend, and a curmudgeon; Doug had a certain charisma about him, unexplainable, but magnetic to most people. He was a singer, song writer; a lover of music, family and old cowboy movies. Dougie will forever be missed by his adoring family.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Wilson D. Sessoms, and sister, Ruth Sessoms Southard.
Douglas leaves behind his daughter, Katelyn Melissa Ann Tapia of Washington; his brothers, James Sessoms and wife, Brenda of Monroe, NC; Charles Sessoms and wife, YonHui of Korea; Tim Sessoms and wife, Maria of Pinehurst, NC; his sisters, Brenda Steele of Vass, NC, Betty Hemphill and husband, David of Haynes City, FL; Annette Ewing and husband, Brian of Danville, KY; Tamara Sessoms of Newport News, VA; Lisa Hernandez and husband, Ezequiel of Laurinburg, NC, along with a host of nieces, nephews and his many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Northview Harvest Ministries with burial following in the Watson Cemetery, Marston, NC.
