Dorothy Hunt Riley

The beloved Dorothy Hunt Riley of Rowland passed away at the age of 73 on May 25, 2022.  

She was the loving daughter of the late Spencer and Vera Grant Hunt born November 23, 1948 in Scotland County.  She dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family as a homemaker.  Dorothy served as a member of the World Faith Clinic.  She loved attending church revivals, riding in the country, and traveling to the mountains.  She truly enjoyed spending time with the elderly sharing conversation absorbing their stories and wisdom along with her exploring walks through cemeteries looking at the monuments.  Dorothy loved cooking, their family gatherings and fish fries.  To her family, she was a precious lady with a kind, loving spirit who will dearly be missed by all.

Preceding her in death are her parents, brothers, Leroy Hunt, Dawson Currie and Buddy Hunt.

Dorothy leaves her daughter, Lisa Conner and husband Chad of Rowland, and son, Ben Quick of Georgia; and those she lovingly raised, Dorothy Hunt and Matthew Hyatt; brother, Norman Hunt of Goldsboro; sisters, Rachel Averitt of Laurinburg, Ann Hunt of Laurinburg and Margaret Locklear of Shannon; grandchildren, Keith Allen Griffin, Paul Stephen Hunt and Patrick; great grandchild, Corbin Griffin; her many nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Charles Young, Jr.   Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.   The family will have a time of visitation prior to services on Sunday from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
