Dorothy Locklear

Dorothy Locklear was born September 29, 1941 in Scotland County, North Carolina.  She departed this life for her Heavenly home on June 5, 2026 at the age of 84.

Her 84 years on earth were truly a demonstration on how to show love, kindness and how to be a mother figure towards others.  These qualities reflected over her life.   She created a loving home filled with patience, love, support and she always had a listening ear.  She loved to cook and get pampered on Saturdays.   Her home was always open for a meal and a prayer.  Even though she never had children, she had nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Dorothy showed hard work and dedication for 37 years until her retirement from West Point Stevens, Inc.  She enjoyed her time with her home family as well as her church family.  She was a Christian and faithfully served as a member of the Gray Pond Baptist Church.  She loved going to church and attended as long as her health allowed.  Her sweet spirit was noticed by anyone who entered the home. Her mother spirit was shown daily by her love for her nieces and nephews whom she prayed for throughout the day.  Her absence will be missed forever but we will always carry her in our hearts.

Dorothy was the daughter of the late Curtis and Quessie Locklear.  Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by brother, Curlee Locklear, baby brother, Stanton Locklear, brother Rudolph Locklear. 

Dorothy is survived by her sisters, Marchelle Bullard, and Jessie Oxendine; special nephew, Archie Bullard who she loved like a son all of the home; and Marie Locklear of Maxton. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, special sisters-in-law Ruby Lee Locklear and Peggy Locklear; a special family, DC and Kathleen Scott, along with a host of loving family and friends.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be conducted 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026 at the Gray Pond Baptist Church followed by burial in Stewartsville Cemetery.   Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service on Monday beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Gray Pond Baptist Church.
