Doris Taylor Obituary

Mary Doris Knight Taylor, of the Sneads Grove Community in Laurel Hill, peacefully received her heavenly welcome on July 2, 2026, at the age of 91. She is the daughter of
the late Leonard Knight of Burbank, CA, and  Dora Wallace Knight of Laurel Hill.

Years have proven her to be a devoted daughter, Christian wife, mother,  grandmother, and friend.

Mrs. Taylor lived her life with an unwavering faith in God, knowing that He would see her through every circumstance and trial.  She found strength in the Lord and was a shining example of compassion, grace, and generosity to everyone who knew her. Her faith guided every aspect of her life and was the foundation upon which she built her family.

For several decades, she faithfully served her local church as clerk and treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and auxiliary leader.

She loved spending time in her kitchen, where every meal was prepared with her "special touches" and much love. She delighted in the opportunity to prepare  everyone's favorite dish.  Mealtime was valued as a special time for her  family to enjoy delicious homecooked meals, as well as fellowship one with another.  Her mouth watering homemade biscuits became a family tradition and were enjoyed by generations of loved ones.

Family and friends will always remember the warmth of her well-kept home, the comforting aroma from her kitchen, and the joy she found in bringing everyone together around her table.

Mrs. Taylor also found great happiness in God’s creation, like caring for her flowers and feeding her beloved birds in her garden. These simple pleasures reflected her gentle spirit and appreciation for the beauty of life.

Above all, "Mema," as she was affectionately known, cherished her family. Her love, wisdom, and steadfast faith will continue to inspire those who were blessed to have known her.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of   her Lord and  Savior, Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her daughter, Melody Snead;  son, Terry Taylor (Elizabeth Ann); five grandchildren, Timothy Snead, Philip Snead, Luke Taylor, Hannah Taylor, and Thomas Taylor; and a great grandson, Connor Snead.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, LC Knight; husband of 67 years, Ed Taylor; son, Garrett; and  son in law, Randall Snead.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 3:00  p.m. followed by burial in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30-2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Raeford Church of God of Prophecy at 911 West Prospect Avenue Raeford, NC 28376.

Mrs. Taylor's legacy of faith, love, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
