Donna Mullen Ward was born July 1, 1938 in Janesville, Wisconsin, a loving daughter of the late Daniel and Lillian Pierce Mullen. She loved sharing her life with husband, Harvey Ward who preceded her in death February of 2000. Along with being a homemaker and loving mother of seven children, Donna enjoyed her work as the Office Manager of Carolina Eye Associates in Laurinburg where she retired after many years of services. She served as a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church. The best thing in life to Donna was caring and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She also enjoyed arguing with others about politics and watching her favorite news network. Donna passed away at the age of 85 on July 29, 2023. Her family will cherish her memory as a loving mother, grandmother and devoted friend.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by sons, Eric Ward and Dennis Michael Ward; daughter, Brenda Ward; great grandson, Nicholas Ward; and siblings, Daniel Mullen, Lillian Edgar, Darlene Collins, Marion McCarten and Betty Ann Bolton.
Donna is survived by son, Patrick Ward of Laurinburg; daughters, Colleen Bennett (James) of Laurinburg, Mary Paolozzi (Chuck) of Kenley, NC, Sheila Pate (Roger) of Laurinburg; fourteen grandchildren, Daniel Priest, Laura Martin, Jon Priest, Larry Waylon Grooms, Melissa Grooms, Adam Ward, Christopher Paolozzi, Ashley Paolozzi, Brandon Ward, Tinsley Ward, Dylan Ward, Melissa Bennett, Jessica Wood, Kayla Pate-Brown, Sullivan Seller; thirty-two great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and her special dear friend, Sylvia Polston.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel followed by the graveside committal service in Hillside Memorial Park.
Visitation will be on Monday evening, July 31st from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
The family requests that memorial gifts be given to Scotland Regional Hospice, Post Office Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
The family wishes to acknowledgement with special gratitude to the staff of Scottish Pines Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the loving care given to their mother during her time of need.
