Delores "Ann" Grooms Russell

Delores “Ann” Grooms Russell of Laurinburg passed away at the age of 72 on September 16, 2023.

Ann was born March 29, 1951, loving daughter of the late Dorothy Easter Grooms Lockey and lovingly raised by step father, the late John Lockey, Sr.   She was the devoted wife to the late Roy Harrison Russell for 41 years until his passing. She dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family as a homemaker.  Ann also enjoyed crafting, reading, bike riding and especially cherished her time with family.  She will be remembered as a precious and loving mother, grandmother “Ma”, sister and devoted friend who will dearly be missed.

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by daughters, Kimberly Dawn Russell and Christy Lynn Russell; granddaughter, Christian Nicole Russell; and brother, John Lockey.

She is survived by her daughter, Holly Russell Collins and husband, David of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Christopher “Topper” Harrison Strickland, River Russell, Courtney Collins, Kyle Collins; great grandchildren, Mila Strickland and Kaison Strickland; brother, Mitchell Lockey (Brenda); sisters, Barbara Lockey and Melissa Ikner (Steve); a host of loving family and her special friends, Peggy Knight and Patsy Peele whom she loved as sisters; Tina Neilson, Alicia Butler and Stephanie Worley loved as a daughters that named her “Momma Ann”. 

Funeral services will be 3;00 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel followed by burial in Hillside Memorial Park.   The family will have a time of visitation prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
