David "Blake" Calhoun

In the early morning hour of October 19, 2023, the happy and loving David “Blake” Calhoun departed this life at the age of 21, a young man who meant so much to many will dearly be missed.

Blake was the son of Cliffer John Calhoun and Heather Scott Calhoun of McColl, South Carolina, born February 22, 2002 in Orange County, North Carolina.  Following graduation, he began his working career as a heavy equipment operator.  He loved sharing time with his family and fiancé, Hanna, along with his friends.  His joy came from mudding in his truck and four-wheeler.   He also loved RC cars and enjoyed spending some of his quiet time fishing.  Although he was bashful, Blake was blessed with a gifted voice who is now singing for the Lord. 

He is preceded in death by sister, Madison Calhoun; grandmother, Priscilla Hill Calhoun and great grandmother, Noreen Peterman.

Along with parents, Cliffer and Heather, Blake is survived by his fiancé, Hanna Hyatt of Little Rock, SC; brothers, Christopher Calhoun, Nathan Calhoun and sister, Lillian Calhoun each of McColl, SC; grandparents, Janet Scott of Conway, SC,  Nelson Scott of Laurinburg, NC, Roy “Bubba” Calhoun of Gibson, NC; Jackie Scott of Maxton, NC; great grandfather, Richard Peterman (Dottie) of Florida; his uncles and aunts, Kevin and Ashley Conway of Conway, SC, James Calhoun (Gracie) of Gibson, NC, Roy “Bud” Calhoun of Ringgold, GA, Velna “Ann” Freeman of Laurinburg, NC, and Rolinda Patterson. He also leaves behind a host of loving family and his many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in the Oak Grove Cemetery.   Family will have a time of visitation prior to the service on Sunday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In honor of Blake's love for animals, memorial donations are requested to be given to the Humane Society of Dillon County, 4160 Glasdrum Drive, Little Rock, SC  29567.
