David Lee Williams, Jr.

David “Lee” Williams, Jr., passed away at the age of 75 at his home on March 14, 2023.

Born October 3, 1947, David was the son of the late Hattie Patterson Williams Smith and lovingly raised by the late Clarence David Smith, Jr., of Scotland County, North Carolina.  He had a long career with the North Carolina Department of Transportation retiring after many years of service.   He was a longtime member of the Wagram Church of God. Lee had a passion for collecting Dale Earnhardt memorabilia and enjoyed walks with his beloved dog, Denali.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by brothers, Donald Williams, Johnny Smith, Ricky Smith; and sisters, Peggy Ann Hopkins and Linda Smith.

He leaves behind his wife, Bernice Scott Williams; sons, David Earl Williams, Jason Lee Williams and Little Jason Williams each of Wagram; his daughters, Melissa Lynn Locklear (Phillip) of Laurinburg, Christine Elizabeth Williams of Laurinburg, Angela Maria Williams and Cassity Williams; brothers, Jerry Williams of Wagram; sisters, Karen Colson of Maxton, Wanda Gail Davis of Laurinburg, Shelia Smith of Wagram; brother-in-law, Bill Hopkins of Wagram; grandchildren, Braxton Joe Williams, Kaison Lee Pasley, Jessica Lynn Locklear Williams, Alexis Gail Burris; along with a host of loving extended family and friends.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023 at Wagram Church of God with burial following in the Spring Hill Cemetery.   Visitation will be prior to services from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023 at the church.
