David Otis McGill

David Otis McGill of Laurinburg passed away at the age of 75 on August 7, 2025.

He was born in Scotland County, NC on July 15, 1950, son of the late Raymond McGill and the late Mary Lois Clark McGill. David had a talent and a love for his work in small engine repairs, with a special interest in lawn mower repairs. He took great joy in attending Gray Pond Baptist Church. David loved to tell real life stories and always had a way of making others laugh. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid sports fan, especially football and softball. He also took great pleasure in helping others whenever there was a need. Time with his family, fellow coaches, and friends meant the world to him, especially time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. David was a loving father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted friend who will be dearly missed.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Freddie McGill, Billy McGill; sister, Brenda Clark; and great-grandchild, Leilani Rae Locklear.

Left to rejoice in his memory is wife, Vicky Strickland McGill; daughters, Hollie Thompson Sanderson (Lacy) of Pembroke, Windy Thompson Lowery (Frankie) of Maxton, Tracy McGill (Delton Locklear) also of Maxton; brother, Bobby McGill (Coleen) of Rutherfordton; sisters, Carolyn Summey (Rodney) of Cliffside, Thelma Waid (Ronald) of Houston, AL; grandchildren, Selena Brooks, Jada Sanderson, Tamara Sanderson, Cody Mishue, Whitney Lowery, Cearria Lowery, Kayla Emanuel, Keltyn Locklear, Tayhler Locklear; and eight great-grandchildren; along with a host of loving extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025 at the Gray Pond Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Horace Oxendine and Rev. Richard Tyson.   Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.      A time of visitation will be held prior to services on Monday beginning 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church.
