David Pritchett Breeden

David Pritchett Breeden, 79, of Laurinburg, North Carolina passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026 after a short illness.

David was born on October 6, 1946, in Winston Salem, North Carolina to Claude and Louise Breeden. After moving to Raleigh and attending Broughton High School, he graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Textiles.  He later returned to study accounting at Pembroke State now (UNC Pembroke). 

David was a lover of many things – his family, his church (Laurinburg Presbyterian), sports (golf, stock car racing, Scotland High School sports, and all things Wolfpack), the beach and beach music, and of course his business. He held a CPA license and dedicated more than 40 years to serving his clients through his accounting firm, Ritch, Breeden, and Company, CPA, in Laurinburg.

David is survived by his children, Jonathan David Breeden (Beth) of Clayton, and Jessica Breeden Moran (Jon) of Apex; his grandchildren, Mary Claire and Jonathan James (“J.J”) Moran, and David Ross and Margaret Elizabeth (“Molly”) Breeden.

Visitation will take place at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026, followed immediately by a service at 11:00 a.m.  A graveside service and burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery in Chadbourn, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Laurinburg Optimist Club of P.O. Box 862, Laurinburg, NC 28352 to support their work on behalf of youth programs.
