Darrell Rufus Rogers was the loving son of Ruby Simmons Rogers and the late Rufus “Buck” Rogers born October 6, 1953 in Marlboro County, South Carolina. Known as his “Mama’s Baby”, Darrell was a humble man who lived life to the fullest, enjoyed traveling, fishing, and dancing, especially Shagging to beach music. He worked many years as supervisor in commercial construction. In his later years when needed, Darrell succeeded in being the best son and brother to help his family. He passed away at the age of 68 on June 10, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Along with his father, he is preceded in death by brothers, Steve B. Rogers, Michael Simmons, and sister, Teresa Saunders.
Darrell is survived by son, Jacob Rogers of Greenville, SC; his mother, Ruby S. Rogers of Laurinburg; sister, Janet R. Mudd (Andy) of Laurinburg; grandson, Aiden Rogers, along with a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at graveside, 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, in Hillside Memorial Park officiated by Rev. David Shoemake. Family will receive friends immediately following the service at graveside.
