Daniel "Danny" Riley Ward

Mr. Daniel "Danny" Riley Ward, age 81 of Laurel Hill passed to his Heavenly home in the early morning of September 18, 2025.

He was the loving son of the late Riley Calvin Ward and the late Hilda Rutland Ward, born February 18, 1944 in New Hanover County, North Carolina. Danny proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked in the textile industry for many years as a Plant Supervisor with Charles Craft Inc., until retiring.

Danny was a faithful active member of the Springfield Church of God, serving in many capacities including the Men’s Council and Financial Committee. He also taught Sunday School and served as the Sunday School Superintendent for 30 years, sang in the choir, and for a time the choir director. Danny was an avid University of North Carolina Tarheels fan, loved fishing, and especially cherished time spent with his family. He was a loving husband and father, adored grandfather, great-grandfather, devoted brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Carolyn McKee Ward of the home; son, Richard “Ricky” L. Ward and wife, Melissa of Laurinburg; daughter, Benita W. Mullis and husband, Larry Mullis of Laurinburg; brothers, Ronnie Ward of Statesville, Bennie Ward and wife, Kitty of Harmony; his adored grandchildren, Okcuse Courtney Norton (Audrina), Jessica Danielle Norton, Richard Landon Ward (Kayla), Logan Ward, Lauren Ward, Grace Ward, John Mullis, Garrett Mullis; and nine great-grandchildren; along with a host of loving extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025 at the Springfield Church of God officiated by Rev. David Shoemake.  Burial with military honors will follow the service in Hillside Cemetery.    The visitation will be held prior to services on Monday beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the church.
