Daniel “Danny” Hucks Hardee, Jr., passed August 2, 2023 while at sea on vacation. Born October 28, 1964 to Sandra Denis and the late Daniel Hucks Hardee, Sr., in Conway, South Carolina. He graduated in 1983 from Scotland High School lettering in football and wrestling. He then proceeded to graduate from Robeson Community College with an Associates Degree in Diesel Mechanics. He retired after many dedicated years as an Area Manager from Murphy Brown, LLC.
Danny loved everything about trucks, driving and going fast. His faith was the central part of his heart and sharing a kind word was his daily goal. Regardless of his limitations, after childhood tragedy, his brain injury or paralysis from Covid, Danny never lost heart to never quit. His best friend, Black Jack, a service dog gave him 12 years of joy. He was a member of Stewartsville Baptist Church, attended New Hope Baptist Church and the East Laurinburg Baptist Church as a youth.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, HB Hardee and Arlene Hardee; his father, Daniel Hucks Hardee, Sr., brother, Hezekiah B. Hardee, II; special aunt, Delores H. Stone “Memaw Doe”, and his son, William Andrew Hardee.
Danny is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanne Ray Hardee; son, Hezekiah “Hezzy” B. Hardee III; daughters, Chae B. Hardee and Yueyan D. Hardee; mother, Sandra L. Denis of Surfside; mother-in-law, Virginia M. Ray; brother-in-law, Dr. Roger Ray (Eileen) of Charlotte; raised with and loved as a sister, Kim Stone Grice and brothers, Haynes Bracey Stone, Jr., Howard Badger Stone, II; special uncles who were father figures, Haynes Stone and William “Phil” Hardee; and his devoted cousin, Terry Parker.
He gave his children much joy and believed in their pursuits of finding a personal living faith.
It was Danny’s request for those wishing to make memorial donations that it be given to the Canine Angels Service Dogs, 2873 Loblolly Avenue, Little River, SC, 29566 or the Kids Chance NC Scholarship, PO Box 372, Gastonia, NC 28053 www.kidsChance.org
