Daniel Locklear of Maxton departed this life for his Heavenly home at the age of 79 on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
Daniel was the loving son of the late Purcell and Beulah Locklear, born May 14, 1945 in Robeson County, NC. He married the love of his life, Ethel Mae Hunt Locklear, in February 1972 and together they shared a beautiful life serving Christ and raising their family in a Godly home. He was a valued employee of the North Carolina Department of Transportation working as a machine operator retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. He served as a faithful member of Youth for Christ Holiness Church where he loved worshipping and playing the guitar. Daniel loved to witness and tell others about the love of Jesus. He took great joy in fishing, working in the garden, and knife making. Daniel will be dearly missed and remembered as a loving husband, father, adored grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by stepfather, Lacy Blue; sister, Betty Lois Locklear; and brother, Woodrow Locklear.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 52 years, Ethel Mae Locklear of their home; daughters, Rose Marie Wilkins and husband, Jerry of Shannon, Teresa Kay Locklear, Victoria Locklear (Joey), and Constance Danielle Locklear (Scottie) each of Maxton; brothers, Redell Locklear of Wagram, Canada Locklear, Kenneth Locklear, Isaiah Locklear all of Maxton, David Mac Locklear of Red Springs; sisters, Helen Gray Locklear of Maxton, Myrtle Hunt of Lumberton, Mary Elizabeth Locklear of Maxton, Felisha Nicole Locklear of Lumberton; grandchildren, Taylor Locklear, Kendall Strickland, Makaylah Barton, Houston Wilkins, Tori K. Strickland, Melandi Wilkins, Travis Wilkins, Skyler Oxendine, Joley Locklear; and great-grandchildren, Lexi Barton, Rylan Locklear, Donovan Clark, Jr., Jessiah Locklear, Dallas Wilkins, Kaydon Clark, Colin Locklear, LaKota Barton Jr., Grayson Locklear, Kyeson Clark, LaKaylah Barton, Sianna Wilkins, Laramie Locklear, Waylan Wilkins, Shaylan Wilkins; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
Daniel’s Home Going Celebration Services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at the Youth for Christ Holiness Church with burial following in the Church Cemetery.
