Dan "Danny" Maurice Chavis

Dan “Danny” Chavis, age 65 of Laurel Hill, NC passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at his home. 

Danny was born in Lumberton, NC on November 21, 1955 to the late Earline Hewitt and was lovingly raised by his stepfather the late Mack Hewitt. He was also preceded in death by his brother Charles Chavis.  He was the beloved small engine repair mechanic of Danny’s Small Engine Repair of Laurinburg for many years until his retirement.  In addition to working on small engines Danny loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, fishing and watching boxing and westerns on television.  He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.

He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Wise (Guerry) and Christina Chavis (Tiffany Clyburn Chavis); sisters, Geraldine Luther (Wiley), Mildred Doss (Mitchell), Darlene Beasley (Jimmy), Jean Chavis (Pops Tawney), Peggy Locklear, Joyce Goins (Daryl Barton), grandchild, Dylan Wise; step grandchildren, Eric Clyburn and Kaden Clyburn, and host of loving nieces, nephews and his special German Shepherd friend Star.
