Dale Edward McDavid passed away peacefully at his home on September 12, 2025. Born and raised in Ashland, Kentucky, to Emil and Della McDavid, Dale grew up alongside his sister, Doris.
He was the beloved husband of Betty, devoted father to Chris (wife Stephanie), cherished grandfather to Kate, proud uncle to Cheryl, Gina, and Sean, and a loyal friend to many.
Dale’s life reflected his love of animals—his dog Penny and especially horses, which he rode, trained, and showed in western disciplines. He began his career working in a veterinary office, and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving for four years beginning in 1958. He later worked as a Teamster, driving trucks across the Tri-State area, then moved into copier sales and repair. He ended his working years in the role he loved most, as Barn Manager at the St. Andrews University Equestrian Center.
Candid, forthright, funny, and generous, Dale was also driven and determined, with a strong work ethic that carried through every part of his life. A gifted problem solver, he held himself to a high standard and encouraged the same in others. He delighted in understanding how things worked and in making them work better.
Though he never sought fanfare or attention, those who knew him celebrate a life that left a lasting impact on all he encountered.
