Curtis Odell Ray was born January 14, 1927 a loving son with seventeen siblings of the late Walter J. Ray and Claudia Lee Ray. He was a World War II Veteran who proudly served with the United States Navy in Okinawa with the Seabee Construction Battalion. He had a long career in textiles retiring after 37 years of service from WestPoint Stevens, Inc. He was a loving, compassionate gentleman who served the Lord and others his entire life. Devoted to his family, Curtis will be remembered for his love and kindest he shared with each of them. He passed to his Heavenly home at the age of 94 on October 8, 2021.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by wives, Evelyn B. Ray and Ethel McCall Ray; seven brothers, Alton Ray (Judy), Dudley Ray, Jerry Ray, Walter Ray, Jr., (Walker), Lacy Ray (Carol), Boyce Ray; two sisters, Mary Beane (Herbert), and Gladys Walters (James); brothers-in-law, L.J. Powell, Bill Moser, Carl Hegwer, Bobby Beane; and sister-in-law, Jacqueline "Jackie" Gibson Ray.
Curtis leaves behind brothers, Billy Ray, Bobby Ray (Pat), James Morris Ray, Ellis Ray (Sandra); sisters, Jeanette Powell (Luther), Betty Powell, Maxine Moser, Irene Hegwer, Sherrill Beane; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Ray and Ruby Ray; along with his many nieces, nephews and loving family.
Graveside services with military honors will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in Hillside Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Michael Powell. Family will receive friends following the service at graveside with all COVID-l9 restrictions.
